Cooperation Strategy of Local Politics in Poverty Alleviation

Ivanovich Agusta (IPB)

Soon after decentralization in Indonesian government, a distinctive problem in poverty alleviation is, that successful development of a local city always pulls poor people from other areas entering the city. Poor people may not be formal residents of the developed area. Local officers of the city, then, needs to cooperate other local governments to alleviate this special type of poverty. A strategy of cooperation may be based on new culture on poverty alleviation: that poverty is a crossed community problem. The culture may be implemented by orienting local governemnt’s proposal for DAK (Dana Alokasi Khusus, Special Allocation Fund) for local politics’ cooperation on poverty alleviation. Another alternative is putting special acitivity on local cooperation among local governments within poverty alleviation projects.
